I wonder how many people don’t get the one they want, but end up with the one they’re supposed to be with.
- Fannie Flagg, Fried Green Tomatoes at the Whistle Stop Cafe
Never apologize for burning too brightly or collapsing into yourself every night. That is how galaxies are made.
Take a moment to acknowledge just how much progress you have made.
You don’t get it. I barely understood it. I crave the kind of partner that will tell me when I’m wrong. Someone who will take the time to say to me ‘This is going to be a sucky conversation because it’s going to be uncomfortable but if I don’t tell you, I can’t be certain anyone will and I want you to grow continuously into a superb human being.’ Do you get it? Don’t you want someone who wants you to keep growing?
Sometimes, you don’t know what you’ve got
until it’s gone. And they leave, and you learn
to be more appreciative in the future — to be
less self centred. But what about all the times
that you do — when you know what you’ve
got, when you know how tremendously lucky
you are, when every day is a pleasure and
treasured for all that it is? I’ll tell you.
They leave, and that’s it — it’s neither your
fault or theirs, there’s no life lesson or greater
purpose. Sometimes, in life, good things just go.
And you never really get over them.
